Ingredients
  

For the cake
  • 1 cup Coca Cola Regular Coca Cola, not diet.
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar Can substitute some for brown sugar for a molasses flavor.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Melted.
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk Can substitute with milk and vinegar mixture.
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows Essential for the gooey texture.
For the frosting
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Melted.
  • 1/4 cup Coca Cola
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt Don’t skip the salt!

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a medium pot, melt the butter, Coca Cola, and cocoa powder over medium heat.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the flour and sugar together.
  4. Pour the melted mixture over the flour and sugar, stirring until just combined.
  5. Add eggs, buttermilk, mini marshmallows, baking soda, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Stir until combined.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the greased pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  2. Perform the toothpick test to check for doneness.
Frosting
  1. While the cake is still warm, melt the frosting ingredients (butter, Coca Cola, cocoa) in a pot.
  2. Stir in the powdered sugar and salt until smooth.
  3. Spread the frosting over the warm cake, allowing it to seep in.
Serving
  1. Let the cake cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For variations, consider adding chopped nuts or additional cocoa. Remember to frost while hot for the best texture and flavor.
